Description

Tilix is a GNOME 3 terminal emulator which utilizes the GNOME header bar. It is actively developed with the most recent commit a day or so ago. Here is the url for the github: https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix

I know you guys aren't fond of packaging so many programs that do the same thing but, Tilix is a very nice program that is in some ways better than the default GNOME Terminal.

I ( @aldoiljazi ), added some info:

Name: Tilix
Homepage: https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix
Is it Open Source: yes
Link to source tarball/zip file: https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix/archive/1.6.4.tar.gz

Terminix is written in D, and D is not part of the GCC compiler collection like Fortran, Java, Ada and Go. This would mean that GDC needs to get into the Solus repository first before any apps written in D could be made available. Which would be actually pretty cool, as I would like to see Solus become the go-to OS for Linux development (in the long run...)

I'm the author of Terminix, just wanted to mention that terminix cannot be compiled with GDC as it hasn't kept up to date with D language and runtime changes. I would recommend using LDC which uses LLVM as the back-end. Debian is using LDC for their terminix package.

Waiting on https://dev.solus-project.com/T879 to be evaluated/accepted/landed so I can work on LDC, and then terminix

Because I also like Terminix a lot I searched for the "dmd" packages which was referenced as a needed dependency. It looks like it already landed. So is there something I can do to help?

At a quick glance we are waiting on this: T1428: Ensure dmd is self hosting

Can we package the pre-compiled release until D compilers stuff is complete? I really really really love Terminix 😄

@feskyde No. We don't package pre-compiled binaries unless they are closed-source and redistributable.

Ok, I'll just wait :(

I just wanted to mention that Terminix is now called Tilix. Here is the statement from their github page:

Note that Terminix is changing it's name to Tilix due to a trademark issue with the Terminix International Corporation. It may take a few weeks to complete the process, thank you in advance for your patience while we work through this change.
