Hi Solus-folk,

I'm the author of QOwnNotes, if there is anything I can do to help you get the current release, please let me know.
I already do that for a lot of distributions. ;)

@pbek Thanks for reaching out! Certainly interested in adding QOwnNotes. I'm a Nextcloud (and prior, ownCloud) user myself and QOwnNotes is an obvious addition to the repos =)

Great to hear, @JoshStrobl! :) How does QOwnNotes look on Budgie? Care to post a screenshot?

@pbek I haven't packaged it yet but I will be sure to post a screenshot once it is.

@JoshStrobl, great, thank you! ;) Please let me know if you need something, you have some ideas or if I can do anything to automate the process in the future...
Maybe this helps to: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=qownnotes

Appreciated, looks fairly simple (basic qmake and cmake stuff). Can't imagine this taking anything more than a few minutes to land. I'll do it during coffee break :D

For "official builds" I currently only use qmake. I only use cmake for building it with CLion...

Yea, meant qmake and make stuff. Still early here :P

Landed in unstable as of https://git.solus-project.com/packages/qownnotes/commit/?id=a72b3cdc1abafd41fd6ce6a79181886a69362862

Here's a screenshot. Worked great with Nextcloud once I cloned qownnotesapi and the Notes app =)

Great, thank you for the screenshot! Yes, I'm also using it with Nextcloud. ;)
By the way. there is also a "dark mode" if you like that more.

Can I help to keep QOwnNotes up-to-date in some automated way?

Yea I switched to Arc Dark (normally a dark user but wanted to show what the defaults would look like) with the Dark color schema and it looks great.

There currently isn't any automated way. This sort of infrastructure is something we're planning in the future (*so you can do something like tie it into CI*). For now I'll keep myself watching the sourceforge for new releases.

You can also move around every panel if you like an other layout. ;)
There also is a release RSS feed if you like that more: http://feeds.feedburner.com/QOwnNotesReleases

Is there anything I can tell users how to install QOwnNotes on Solus and maybe something to link to on http://www.qownnotes.org/installation?

Looks really good :)

QOwnNotes is a really nice piece of software

Thank you @BridouZ, I'm honored to hear that from Solus users (with their high UX standards)! ;)
QOwnNotes was created while "scratching my own itch" ;)

@pbek Currently it's in unstable, so might be a bit preemptive to add it to the Installation page. But it's as easy as sudo eopkg install qownnotes

I'll let you know when we sync to stable =)

pbek added a comment.Nov 23 2016, 10:17 AM

@JoshStrobl but it can already be installed with sudo eopkg install qownnotes?

@pbek If the person is using the unstable repo, yes, it is already installable.

@JoshStrobl can you be a dear and use echo "#define RELEASE \"Solus\"" > release.h in https://git.solus-project.com/packages/qownnotes/tree/package.yml?id=a72b3cdc1abafd41fd6ce6a79181886a69362862 instead of ${version}.

@pbek Sure thing. Misunderstood it as release number rather than the OS itself :)

Thank you @JoshStrobl!
The names of the variable and file are very misleading, maybe I'll change that in the future...
I started to use it for the build system QOwnNotes is created on, like TravisCI, Appveyor, OBS, Ubuntu Launchpad and then also for AUR, Gentoo, KCP, Snapcraft, Slackbuild and so on ...

@JoshStrobl thanks a lot, I just saw it!

@JoshStrobl I also wrote a small blog post about it, thanks again!

@pbek All about that teamwork. Thanks again for reaching out!

@JoshStrobl thank you for your work on the package!

@JoshStrobl Thank you for getting to this so fast!
